Abstract: This study examines the impact of adult education on elderly populations, focusing on how educational programs tailored for older adults enhance their quality of life and social engagement. The objectives were to assess the effectiveness of adult education in improving cognitive functioning and social interaction among the elderly, to identify key factors that contribute to successful educational outcomes for older adults, and to evaluate the challenges faced by elderly learners in accessing and participating in educational programs. A survey research design was employed to gather data from participants involved in educational programs for the elderly, providing comprehensive insights into their experiences. A sample size of 200 elderly learners was selected for this study. The purposive sampling technique was used to target individuals actively participating in educational programs for older adults. The case study was conducted in Bayelsa, Nigeria, where there is a growing interest in lifelong learning for the elderly. Findings indicated that adult education significantly improved cognitive functioning, social engagement, and overall well-being among the elderly. However, challenges such as mobility issues and limited access to educational resources were identified. The study recommended expanding access to educational programs for the elderly and providing support services to address mobility and accessibility challenges.
