Abstract: This study explores the impact of adult education on career transition, focusing on how continuing education programs facilitate the process of changing careers for adult learners. The objectives were to assess the effectiveness of adult education in supporting career transitions, to identify key competencies developed through adult education that aid in career changes, and to evaluate the challenges faced by adult learners during career transitions. A survey research design was employed to gather data from participants enrolled in career transition-focused education programs, providing comprehensive insights into their experiences. A sample size of 350 adult learners was selected for robust analysis. The purposive sampling technique was used to target individuals actively participating in career transition programs. The case study was conducted in Benue, Nigeria, where various adult education initiatives aim to support career transitions. Findings indicated that adult education significantly facilitated career transitions, with participants acquiring new skills and knowledge that enhanced their employability in different fields. However, challenges such as financial constraints and lack of guidance were noted. The study recommended increasing funding for career transition programs and providing more comprehensive career counseling services to support adult learners.
