Abstract: This study examines the impact of adult education on workforce development, focusing on how continuing education programs enhance the skills and productivity of the adult workforce. The objectives were to evaluate the role of adult education in improving workforce competencies, to identify specific skills developed through adult education, and to assess the challenges faced by adult learners in workforce development programs. A survey research design was employed to gather data from participants enrolled in various adult education programs, providing a comprehensive understanding of their experiences and outcomes. A sample size of 400 adult learners was selected to ensure a robust analysis. The purposive sampling technique was used to target individuals actively participating in workforce development courses. The case study was conducted in Lagos, Nigeria, a major economic hub with diverse workforce development initiatives. Findings indicated that adult education significantly improved workforce skills, leading to enhanced productivity and employability. However, challenges such as time constraints and financial barriers were identified. The study recommended increasing funding for workforce development programs and providing flexible learning schedules to accommodate working adults.
