Abstract: The topic of this research is the impact of adult education on empowering marginalized communities. The study aimed to explore how adult education programs contribute to the empowerment of communities facing socio-economic challenges. The objectives were to assess the effectiveness of adult education in improving social and economic conditions, to evaluate its impact on community empowerment and self-reliance, and to identify successful strategies for addressing the needs of marginalized groups. A survey research design was utilized to collect data from participants in adult education programs aimed at marginalized communities, providing a detailed view of its impacts. A sample size of 275 participants from various marginalized communities was selected to ensure comprehensive insights. The purposive sampling technique was used to target individuals directly benefiting from empowerment-focused adult education. The case study was conducted in Imo, Nigeria, where adult education programs have been tailored to support marginalized groups. Findings revealed that adult education significantly empowered marginalized communities by improving access to resources, enhancing skills, and fostering greater community involvement. The study recommended expanding adult education programs to reach more marginalized areas and tailoring content to address specific community needs.
