Abstract: The topic of this research is the impact of adult education on indigenous knowledge preservation. This study aimed to evaluate how adult education programs contribute to the safeguarding and transmission of indigenous knowledge systems. The objectives were to assess the role of adult education in preserving indigenous cultural practices, to evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs in documenting and transmitting indigenous knowledge, and to identify the challenges faced in integrating indigenous knowledge into formal adult education. A survey research design was employed to gather data from adult education programs focused on indigenous knowledge. A sample size of 250 participants, including educators and indigenous community members, was selected to provide a thorough understanding of the impact. The purposive sampling technique was utilized to ensure that participants with relevant knowledge and experience were included. The case study focused on indigenous knowledge preservation efforts in Enugu, Nigeria. Findings showed that adult education played a crucial role in preserving indigenous knowledge by providing platforms for documentation and transmission, though challenges such as cultural sensitivity and resource constraints were identified. Recommendations included strengthening partnerships between educational institutions and indigenous communities to better support knowledge preservation efforts.
