Abstract: The topic of this research is the impact of adult education on national development. This study aimed to explore how adult education contributes to the advancement of national development objectives. The objectives of this research were to assess the role of adult education in enhancing economic productivity, to evaluate its impact on social cohesion, and to investigate its contribution to democratic engagement. A survey research design was employed to gather comprehensive data from relevant participants, as this design allows for the collection of quantifiable data from a broad population. A sample size of 300 adult learners and educators was chosen to ensure diverse and representative responses. The purposive sampling technique was used to select participants who are directly involved in adult education programs. The case study focused on adult education initiatives in Lagos, Nigeria. The findings revealed that adult education significantly contributed to increased economic productivity, improved social cohesion, and enhanced democratic engagement. Recommendations included strengthening adult education policies and increasing investment in adult education programs to further boost national development.
