Abstract: The impact of distance learning on adult education in Nigeria is pivotal in understanding the adaptation of educational methods to modern technological advancements. This study aimed to (1) evaluate the accessibility and inclusiveness of distance learning for adult learners, (2) determine the effectiveness of distance learning in achieving educational outcomes, and (3) identify the challenges faced by adult learners in distance education programs. Utilizing a survey research design, data were collected from 150 adult learners enrolled in distance learning programs. Purposive sampling was used to select participants from a diverse background, ensuring a comprehensive analysis. The case study was conducted in Enugu State. The research found that distance learning significantly increased access to education for adults who otherwise faced geographical and time constraints. However, challenges such as limited technological infrastructure and digital literacy skills were prevalent. It was recommended that policies be implemented to improve technological infrastructure and provide training for both learners and educators to enhance the effectiveness of distance learning.
