ABSTRACT
THE INFLUENCE OF REGULATORY CHANGES ON INVESTMENT PRACTICES
This study examines the influence of regulatory changes on investment practices with objectives: (1) to assess the impact of regulatory changes on investment strategies; (2) to identify the challenges posed by regulatory compliance; (3) to understand the strategies for adapting to regulatory changes. A survey research design is employed to collect quantitative data. Using Taro Yamane's formula, a sample size of 320 respondents from Lagos is selected, representing various financial institutions. A regulatory compliance firm is chosen as the case study due to its expertise in managing regulatory risks. The reliability coefficient score for the survey instrument is 0.87. Findings indicate that regulatory changes significantly influence investment practices by imposing new compliance requirements and affecting market dynamics. Strategies such as compliance monitoring, policy adjustments, and proactive engagement with regulators are highlighted. It is recommended that investors and financial institutions stay informed about regulatory developments, adopt robust compliance frameworks, and engage in continuous dialogue with regulatory bodies to navigate the evolving regulatory landscape.
