ABSTRACT
THE INFLUENCE OF MACROECONOMIC FACTORS ON INVESTMENT STRATEGIES
This research explores the influence of macroeconomic factors on investment strategies, focusing on: (1) the impact of economic variables on investment decisions; (2) the strategies for incorporating macroeconomic analysis into investment planning; (3) the challenges in predicting macroeconomic trends. A survey design is justified for collecting quantitative data. Using Taro Yamane's formula, a sample size of 320 respondents from Lagos is selected, representing a mix of individual and institutional investors. An asset management firm is chosen as the case study due to its reliance on macroeconomic analysis. The reliability coefficient score for the survey instrument is 0.87. Findings indicate that macroeconomic factors, such as interest rates, inflation, and GDP growth, significantly influence investment strategies. Techniques such as economic forecasting, scenario analysis, and risk management are highlighted. It is recommended that investors integrate macroeconomic analysis into their investment strategies, stay informed about economic trends, and adapt their portfolios to changing economic conditions.
