ABSTRACT

THE IMPACT OF INVESTMENT TECHNOLOGY ON PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT

This study examines the impact of investment technology on portfolio management with objectives: (1) to assess the benefits of technology in enhancing portfolio performance; (2) to identify the key technological tools for investment management; (3) to understand the challenges in adopting investment technology. A survey design is justified to collect quantitative data. Using Taro Yamane's formula, a sample size of 310 respondents from Abuja is selected, representing various investment firms. A fintech company is chosen as the case study due to its innovative investment solutions. The reliability coefficient score for the survey instrument is 0.88. Findings indicate that investment technology, such as algorithmic trading, robo-advisors, and blockchain, significantly enhances portfolio management by improving efficiency, accuracy, and transparency. However, challenges include the high cost of technology and the need for continuous updates. It is recommended that investors and firms invest in advanced technology, provide training for staff, and stay updated on technological advancements to optimize portfolio management.
