ABSTRACT

THE INFLUENCE OF INVESTMENT RESEARCH ON DECISION-MAKING

This research explores the influence of investment research on decision-making, focusing on: (1) the role of research in enhancing investment outcomes; (2) the methods for effective investment research; (3) the challenges in obtaining and utilizing research data. A survey design is used to collect quantitative data. Taro Yamane's formula is applied to derive a sample size of 320 respondents from Lagos, representing a range of investors. An asset management firm is chosen as the case study due to its reliance on investment research. The reliability coefficient score for the survey instrument is 0.87. Findings indicate that comprehensive investment research significantly improves decision-making and investment performance. Techniques such as fundamental analysis, technical analysis, and market sentiment analysis are highlighted. It is recommended that investors conduct thorough research, use reliable data sources, and continuously update their research methodologies to support informed investment decisions.
