ABSTRACT
THE IMPACT OF INVESTMENT STRATEGIES ON PORTFOLIO PERFORMANCE
This study examines the impact of investment strategies on portfolio performance with the objectives of: (1) evaluating the effectiveness of different investment strategies; (2) identifying the key factors influencing portfolio performance; (3) understanding the challenges in implementing investment strategies. A survey research design is employed to gather quantitative data. Using Taro Yamane's formula, a sample size of 300 respondents from Lagos is selected, representing a mix of individual and institutional investors. A financial services firm is chosen as the case study due to its diverse investment portfolio and strategic expertise. The survey instrument has a reliability coefficient score of 0.87. Findings indicate that strategic asset allocation, risk management, and market timing significantly impact portfolio performance. However, challenges include market volatility and behavioral biases. It is recommended that investors adopt a diversified investment approach, continuously monitor market trends, and seek professional advice to enhance portfolio performance.
