Abstract : THE ROLE OF EMPLOYEE REFERRALS IN RECRUITMENT
The objective of this study is to explore the role of employee referrals in recruitment, focusing on their impact on candidate quality, time-to-hire, and overall recruitment outcomes. A survey design is selected for its ability to gather data from a diverse population. Using Taro Yamane's formula, a sample size of 300 respondents is determined to ensure statistical significance. The case study is based in Lagos, focusing on a financial institution with a robust employee referral program. The reliability coefficient score of 0.87 indicates high reliability. Findings suggest that employee referrals significantly improve recruitment outcomes by providing high-quality candidates and reducing time-to-hire. Recommendations include encouraging employee referrals through incentives and regularly evaluating the effectiveness of the referral program.
