THE ROLE OF CLOUD COMPUTING IN DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION
The study aims to: (1) investigate the role of cloud computing in facilitating digital transformation, (2) identify the benefits and challenges of cloud adoption, and (3) evaluate the impact of cloud computing on business agility and scalability. A survey design was employed to gather data from IT professionals and business leaders. Using Taro Yamane's formula, a sample size of 384 participants from SMEs in Enugu was determined, ensuring diverse insights. The SME sector was chosen for its high potential for cloud adoption. The reliability coefficient score of the survey was 0.87. Findings indicate that cloud computing significantly enhances business agility, scalability, and cost-efficiency, though challenges such as data security and integration remain. Recommendations include investing in robust cloud security measures, fostering a cloud-first strategy, and continuously training employees in cloud technologies to maximize the benefits of cloud computing.
