Abstract: THE ROLE OF BUSINESS ANALYTICS IN SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT

This study aims to explore the role of business analytics in optimizing supply chain management practices and enhancing operational efficiency within organizations. The objectives include assessing how analytics tools and techniques contribute to demand forecasting, inventory optimization, and logistics management. A survey research design is employed to gather quantitative data from 300 participants using the Taro Yamane formula to ensure a statistically significant sample size. The case study focuses on a retail chain in Enugu, Nigeria, known for its agile supply chain operations supported by advanced analytics capabilities. The reliability coefficient score, measured through internal consistency measures, is 0.86, indicating strong reliability of the research findings. Findings indicate that business analytics enable organizations to improve supply chain visibility, reduce lead times, and mitigate operational risks by providing real-time insights into inventory levels, supplier performance, and customer demand patterns. The study recommends that organizations adopt predictive analytics tools, integrate data from IoT devices, and collaborate closely with supply chain partners to enhance agility and resilience in global supply chain networks.
