THE INFLUENCE OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS ON BUSINESS AGILITY

Abstract: This study aimed to investigate the influence of information systems on business agility within organizations. The objectives were to analyze how information systems enable rapid response to market changes, enhance operational flexibility, and support organizational adaptability. A survey research design was chosen to gather quantitative data from 270 respondents, selected using the Taro Yamane formula to ensure representation across industries emphasizing agility and organizational responsiveness. The study focused on a case study of a software development firm in Port Harcourt, known for its agile development methodologies and use of cloud-based platforms for scalability. Conducted in Port Harcourt, the reliability coefficient score was determined to be 0.88, indicating strong internal consistency in survey responses. The findings indicated that information systems enable business agility by facilitating real-time data access, supporting collaborative workflows, and enabling iterative product development cycles. The study recommends that organizations adopt agile methodologies, invest in cloud-based technologies, and prioritize continuous improvement to enhance agility, responsiveness, and innovation capabilities in dynamic and competitive business environments.
