THE IMPACT OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS ON OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY

Abstract: This study aimed to assess the impact of information systems on operational efficiency within organizations. The objectives were to examine how information systems streamline business processes, reduce operational costs, and improve resource utilization. A survey research design was employed to collect quantitative data from 300 respondents, selected using the Taro Yamane formula to ensure representation across industries emphasizing operational efficiency and process optimization. The study focused on a case study of a logistics company in Ogun, known for its integrated logistics management system and operational excellence. Conducted in Ogun, the reliability coefficient score was calculated at 0.86, indicating strong internal consistency in survey responses. The findings indicated that information systems optimize operational efficiency by automating workflows, enhancing real-time data visibility, and supporting performance monitoring and analysis. The study recommends that organizations invest in scalable ERP and logistics management systems, integrate process automation technologies, and adopt data-driven approaches to continuously improve operational efficiency, reduce waste, and achieve sustainable growth in competitive markets.
