THE INFLUENCE OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS ON BUSINESS COMMUNICATION

Abstract: This study aimed to investigate the influence of information systems on business communication within organizations. The objectives were to analyze how information systems facilitate seamless communication channels, improve collaboration among employees, and enhance external stakeholder engagement. A survey research design was chosen to gather quantitative data from a sample of 250 respondents, selected using the Taro Yamane formula to ensure representation across industries emphasizing effective communication. The study focused on a case study of a telecommunications company in Lagos, known for its integrated communication systems for internal team collaboration and customer interactions. Conducted in Lagos, the reliability coefficient score was determined to be 0.86, indicating strong internal consistency in survey responses. The findings indicated that information systems improve communication efficiency, reduce communication barriers, and foster a culture of transparency and collaboration. The study recommends that organizations adopt unified communication platforms, implement digital collaboration tools, and provide communication skills training to employees to optimize business communication practices and achieve operational excellence.
