THE IMPACT OF MOBILE TECHNOLOGIES ON INFORMATION SYSTEMS
Abstract: This study aimed to assess the impact of mobile technologies on information systems within organizations. The objectives were to examine how mobile technologies enhance workforce mobility, improve operational agility, and enhance customer engagement. A survey research design was chosen to gather quantitative data from a sample of 280 respondents, selected using the Taro Yamane formula to ensure representation across industries leveraging mobile technologies. The study focused on a case study of a retail business in Kaduna, recognized for its mobile app integration for sales, inventory management, and customer service. Conducted in Kaduna, the reliability coefficient score was determined to be 0.87, indicating strong internal consistency in survey responses. The findings indicated that mobile technologies enable real-time data access, streamline communication channels, and empower employees to deliver enhanced customer experiences. The study recommends that organizations invest in mobile-friendly information systems, adopt secure mobile platforms, and leverage mobile analytics to capitalize on opportunities for operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
