ABSTRACT: THE IMPACT OF CLIMATE CHANGE ON THE BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT
This study aims to: 1) assess the effects of climate change on business operations and supply chains; 2) analyze the adaptation strategies businesses employ; and 3) evaluate the long-term implications for business sustainability. A survey research design is chosen for its ability to gather diverse perspectives and experiences. Using Taro Yamane’s formula, a sample size of 350 businesses, including those in agriculture and manufacturing, is determined. Port Harcourt, known for its environmental challenges, is selected as the case study location. The survey instruments achieve a reliability coefficient score of 0.86. Findings reveal that climate change poses significant risks to business operations, including supply chain disruptions and increased operational costs. Businesses are increasingly adopting sustainable practices and resilience strategies to mitigate these risks. The study recommends that businesses integrate climate change considerations into their strategic planning and collaborate with stakeholders to build climate resilience
