ABSTRACT: THE INFLUENCE OF SOCIAL TRENDS ON BUSINESS OPERATIONS
The study’s objectives are to: 1) identify key social trends affecting business operations; 2) assess the impact of social media on consumer behavior; and 3) explore the influence of changing lifestyles on product development. A survey research design is chosen for its ability to gather extensive data on social trends. Using Taro Yamane’s formula, a sample size of 370 participants, including business analysts and marketing professionals, is determined. The case study is conducted in Lagos, known for its dynamic social landscape. The reliability coefficient score of 0.88 confirms the survey’s consistency. Findings reveal that social trends, such as increased social media usage and evolving consumer lifestyles, significantly impact business operations. Businesses must adapt to these trends to remain competitive. The study recommends that companies invest in social trend analysis and integrate these insights into their strategic planning to better align with consumer preferences.
