Abstract: THE ROLE OF ENVIRONMENTAL POLICIES IN ACHIEVING SUSTAINABILITY GOALS

This research explores the role of environmental policies in achieving sustainability goals. Objectives are to identify the most effective environmental policies, analyze the implementation challenges, and measure the impact of these policies on sustainability outcomes. A survey design is used due to its effectiveness in capturing diverse opinions and experiences from a large population. The sample size, calculated using Taro Yamane's formula, includes 350 participants, ensuring statistical significance. The study focuses on the oil and gas sector in Port Harcourt, a key industry in the region. The reliability coefficient score for the survey is 0.87, reflecting high reliability. Results indicate that stringent environmental policies are crucial for achieving sustainability goals, with significant positive impacts on environmental conservation and corporate reputation. Recommendations include the need for stronger regulatory frameworks and greater corporate commitment to environmental stewardship.
