Abstract: This research explores the role of Project Management Offices (PMOs) in achieving project success, with objectives to: 1) assess the functions and effectiveness of PMOs, 2) determine the impact of PMOs on project outcomes, and 3) recommend strategies for optimizing PMO operations. A survey design was employed to collect data from PMO directors, project managers, and team members. Using Taro Yamane's formula, a sample size of 355 respondents was determined, ensuring a 95% confidence level and a 5% margin of error. The study was conducted in the banking sector in Lagos, where PMOs are critical for managing complex projects. The reliability coefficient score of the survey instrument was 0.90, indicating high reliability. Findings revealed that well-structured PMOs significantly improve project success rates by providing standardized processes, resources, and governance. It is recommended that organizations establish and continuously improve their PMOs, aligning them with strategic goals and ensuring they are adequately resourced and supported.
