THE ROLE OF LEADERSHIP IN CRISIS MANAGEMENT
This study explores the role of leadership in crisis management. Objectives include: (1) evaluating the effectiveness of various leadership styles in managing crises, (2) analyzing the impact of leadership on team performance during crises, and (3) identifying best practices for crisis management. A survey design is employed to gather data from a broad population. Using Taro Yamane's formula, a sample size of 320 is derived, ensuring comprehensive coverage. The case study focuses on the healthcare sector in Lagos, Nigeria, where crisis management is critical. The reliability coefficient score is 0.85, indicating high reliability. Findings show that transformational and situational leadership styles are particularly effective in managing crises, fostering team cohesion and effective response. Recommendations include training leaders in crisis management techniques and promoting a culture of preparedness and resilience to handle crises effectively.
