THE INFLUENCE OF LAISSEZ-FAIRE LEADERSHIP ON EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE
This study examines the influence of laissez-faire leadership on employee performance. Objectives include: (1) evaluating the impact of laissez-faire leadership on employee autonomy and creativity, (2) analyzing its effects on performance outcomes, and (3) assessing the long-term implications for organizational effectiveness. A survey design is employed to gather data from a large number of respondents. Using Taro Yamane's formula, the sample size is 330, ensuring comprehensive coverage. The study is conducted in the creative industry in Lagos, Nigeria, where employee autonomy is valued. The reliability coefficient score is 0.84, indicating reliable results. Findings demonstrate that laissez-faire leadership can enhance creativity and autonomy but may lead to a lack of direction and reduced performance if not balanced with guidance. Recommendations include providing sufficient support and feedback to employees while maintaining autonomy to optimize performance.
