Abstract: THE IMPACT OF DIVIDEND POLICY ON EMPLOYEE MOTIVATION
Objective: This study aims to (1) examine the relationship between dividend policy and employee motivation, (2) identify factors influencing perceptions of dividend policy, and (3) assess the impact of financial distributions on employee satisfaction and organizational performance.
Research Design: A survey design was chosen to gather comprehensive data from employees about their perceptions of dividend policy and its impact on motivation.
Sample Size: Based on Taro Yamane's formula, a sample size of 360 employees was selected, ensuring robust statistical analysis with a 95% confidence level and a 5% margin of error.
Case Study: The research focused on the telecommunications sector, where dividend policies impact shareholder returns and employee welfare.
Location: Lagos, a major telecommunications hub with a dynamic workforce.
Reliability Coefficient Score: The survey instrument achieved a Cronbach's alpha score of 0.88, indicating high reliability.
Findings: Dividend policies that balance shareholder interests with employee welfare and organizational needs can positively influence employee motivation by providing financial stability, incentives, and long-term value. Misaligned dividend policies may lead to dissatisfaction and decreased motivation among employees.
Recommendation: Telecommunications companies should adopt dividend policies that consider employee welfare, shareholder expectations, and organizational sustainability to enhance motivation and drive performance.
