Abstract: THE EFFECTS OF CAREER DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES ON EMPLOYEE MOTIVATION

Objective: This study aims to (1) examine the impact of career development opportunities on employee motivation, (2) identify which career development initiatives are most valued by employees, and (3) analyze the long-term effects of career development on employee retention and motivation.

Research Design: A survey design was chosen to gather insights from employees regarding their experiences with career development opportunities and its impact on motivation.

Sample Size: Taro Yamane's formula was used to determine a sample size of 370 employees, ensuring statistical significance with a 95% confidence level and a 5% margin of error.

Case Study: The research focused on the telecommunications sector, known for its dynamic career growth opportunities.

Location: Abuja, with its rapidly growing telecommunications industry.

Reliability Coefficient Score: The survey instrument yielded a Cronbach's alpha score of 0.87, indicating high reliability.

Findings: Career development opportunities, such as training programs, mentorship, and clear career progression paths, were found to significantly enhance employee motivation. Employees who perceived strong career growth prospects were more motivated and committed to their organizations.

Recommendation: Telecommunications companies should invest in robust career development programs to retain talent and enhance employee motivation.
