Objective: This study aims to (1) assess how various aspects of the workplace environment affect employee motivation, (2) identify the most influential environmental factors, and (3) propose improvements to enhance the workplace environment for better motivation.
Research Design: A survey design was chosen to gather comprehensive data from employees about their workplace environment and its impact on motivation.
Sample Size: According to Taro Yamane's formula, a sample size of 380 employees was determined, ensuring a 95% confidence level with a 5% margin of error.
Case Study: The research focused on the manufacturing sector, where the physical and psychological workplace environment plays a critical role.
Location: Ogun, an industrial hub with a significant manufacturing workforce.
Reliability Coefficient Score: The survey instrument had a Cronbach's alpha score of 0.86, reflecting high reliability.
Findings: The study found that a supportive workplace environment, characterized by adequate facilities, positive social interactions, and effective communication, significantly boosts employee motivation. Poor environmental conditions, such as inadequate lighting and ventilation, negatively impact motivation.
Recommendation: Companies should invest in improving workplace conditions, fostering a supportive culture, and ensuring effective communication channels to enhance employee motivation.
