ABSTRACT

This study was carried out on the impact of workforce participation on divorce rate among women in Abakaliki town. Specifically, the study aimed to identify factors influencing women's decisions regarding workforce participation in Abakaliki Town, investigate the relationship between workforce participation and divorce rates among women in Abakaliki Town, and examine the strategies to curb divorce rate among Workforce Participation women in Abakaliki Town. The study employed the survey descriptive research design. Questionnaire was used for data collection which was raised against a five Likert scale of Strongly Agree(SA), Agree(A), Undecided(U), Disagree(D), and Strongly Disagree(SD), and was analysed using the frequency counts, percentages, mean and standard deviation. A total of 100 respondents were conveniently selected as sample size comprising of women in Abakaliki town. From the responses obtained and analysed, the findings revealed that there is a significant relationship between workforce participation and divorce rates among women in Abakaliki Town. On the basis of these findings, it was recommended that the government and NGOs should Launch educational programs and awareness campaigns aimed at promoting understanding and challenging social norms and expectations surrounding women's workforce participation. By educating the community about the benefits of women's empowerment through education and employment, we can gradually shift societal attitudes towards greater acceptance and support for women in the workforce.
