ABSTRACT

This study was carried out to evaluate  audio visual aids and ict: correlates of senior secondary school students academic performance in english language in Lagos state public schools. Specifically, the study aims to ascertain the effect of audio-visual aids and ict on students academic performance in english language in Lagos state public schools, determine the factors that militate against the use of audio-visual instructional aids and ict in some selected public schools in Lagos State, assess the relationship between audio visual aids and ict and students academic performance in English language and determine whether there is a difference between the performance of students taught english language using conventionally and those taught using audio-visual aids. The study employed the survey descriptive research design. A total of 259 responses were validated from the survey. From the responses obtained and analyzed, the findings revealed that there is a significant relationship between audio visual aids and ict and students academic performance in English language.. The study thereby recommend that   Schools managements should make audiovisual aids available at basic levels for effective delivery in the instructional processes. Also, at the basic levels, authorities concerned should encourage teachers to make efficient use of audio-visual teaching aids and teachers  should avoid using any teaching aid that tends to distract students’ learning during their lessons.
