Background of the Study:
Entrepreneurship education is essential in preparing students for a competitive economic environment and fostering innovative thinking. School libraries can support this initiative by offering resources, training, and mentorship programs focused on entrepreneurship. In Babura Local Government Area, Jigawa State, libraries serve as knowledge hubs that provide students with access to business literature, market analysis, and case studies in entrepreneurship (Ogunleye, 2023). Through workshops, entrepreneurial clubs, and interactive seminars, libraries are instrumental in nurturing a spirit of innovation and self-reliance. However, challenges such as resource limitations, insufficient collaboration with local industries, and a lack of specialized training for library staff can impede the effectiveness of these programs (Aminu, 2024). This study investigates the role of school libraries in encouraging entrepreneurship education, evaluating their impact on student innovation and preparedness for entrepreneurial ventures, and recommending strategies for more effective program delivery (Ibrahim, 2025).
Statement of the Problem:
Secondary schools in Babura are facing challenges in effectively promoting entrepreneurship education through library services due to inadequate resources and limited industry partnerships. These factors hinder the development of practical entrepreneurial skills among students, reducing their readiness for future business endeavors (Usman, 2025).
Objectives of the Study:
To assess the current role of libraries in entrepreneurship education.
To identify challenges affecting program delivery.
To recommend strategies to enhance entrepreneurial learning.
Research Questions:
How do school libraries support entrepreneurship education?
What challenges impede effective entrepreneurship programs?
What measures can improve the role of libraries in fostering entrepreneurship?
Significance of the Study:
This study is significant as it highlights the potential of school libraries to serve as catalysts for entrepreneurial development, providing insights for policymakers to enhance resource allocation and industry partnerships. (Chinwe, 2023)
Scope and Limitations of the Study:
The study is limited to secondary schools in Babura Local Government Area, Jigawa State, focusing solely on library-based entrepreneurship education and its impact on student preparedness for entrepreneurial endeavors.
Definitions of Terms:
Entrepreneurship Education: Instruction aimed at imparting business creation and management skills.
