ABSTRACT
In this study, our focus was to carryout a critical analysis on the methods of improving productivity and profitability of smallholder shrimp aquaculture and related agribusiness in Nigeria.
The study adopted the survey research design and randomly enrolled participants in the study. A total of 80 responses were validated from the enrolled participants where all respondent are active shrimp farmers in the Uyo Local government area in Akwa-Ibom State. it was denoted that shrimp farming in the Local Government Areas tends to be productive regarding their level of participation in the activities. Most of the farmers have access to credit facilities and majority of them use the loan for shrimp production purposes, as revealed from the findings, most of the shrimp farmers are confronted with the problem of lack of fund and heavy rainfall.
