Background of the study
Youth empowerment programs have emerged as critical interventions to combat unemployment and drive socio-economic development. In Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, these initiatives aim to equip young people with vocational skills, entrepreneurial training, and mentorship opportunities (Ogunleye, 2023). The rapid demographic growth combined with limited formal job opportunities has necessitated innovative approaches to reduce youth unemployment. Empowerment programs offer a pathway for skill acquisition and self-employment, which can stimulate local economies and reduce dependency on public sector jobs. The study investigates the effectiveness of such programs in creating job opportunities, enhancing the entrepreneurial spirit, and fostering economic independence among youths in Ijebu-Ode. It critically examines program structures, funding mechanisms, and participant outcomes. Moreover, the research considers the socio-cultural factors that influence program participation and success, offering a comprehensive evaluation of their impact on unemployment reduction (Afolabi, 2024; Adekunle, 2025).

Statement of the problem
Youth unemployment remains a critical challenge in Ijebu-Ode, despite numerous empowerment programs.
