ABSTARCT
The main focus of this study is to assess impact of the internet on postgraduate research with special reference to federal university of technology Owerri and Imo State University. The research adopted the survey descriptive design and with the aid of convenience sampling method, the researcher conveniently selected two hundred and forty (240) participant who are postgraduate student . Self- structure questionnaire was issued to the respondent of which two hundred (200) responses were retrieved and validated for the study. The study made use of of descriptive analysis and inferential statistics where data from field survey was analyzed using simple percentage in frequencies and tables. Findings of the study reveals that internet has impact on post graduate in the institution of higher learning, as a tool for interactive research in Nigeria postgraduate programme the internet has any impact on the advancing research ability and techniques of the postgraduate. More so, The postgraduate student has developed willingness and readiness to use the internet as a research tools and they make use of the internet during their academic research. The study therefore recommends that there is urgent need for development of ICT skills in our students and all Internet users at all levels. It behooves any user of computer and allied facilities to acquire skills needed to operate the computer so as to be able to navigate round to explore the avalanche of literature accessible through the Internet. More so, there is need for continuous training on ICT use and also training on the ability to formulate search terms for different research topics so as to control the quality and quantities of literature scattered on the Internet.
