ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to examine teenage pregnancy and its effects on academics in selected secondary schools in Oruk Anam Local Government, Akwa Ibom State. Specifically, the study examined impact of teenage pregnancy on students academic performance in selected secondary schools in Oruk Anam Local Government, Akwa Ibom State. A total of 120 responses were validated from the survey. From the responses obtained and analysed, the findings revealed that there is significant influence between negligence of children by parents and teenage pregnancy. Also,There is significant difference between knowledge of sex education either in school or at home and teenage pregnancy.The study recommend that sex education should be taught in schools which will enable the teenagers to know the effects of early sex engagement and early pregnancy in their educational journey and future career and life .Boys should also take part in this education, because they contribute in the pregnancy of girls.
