ABSTRACT
The research investigated the causes and effects of unemployment among school leavers in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. The need for this study Arouse because of the increase questions used for the study are as follows:
1. Does high level of unemployment leads to low standard of living in Oredo local government area of Edo State.
2. Does unemployment bring about frustration among school leavers in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State?
3. Do you regard the period you spent in school as a waste?
Based on these findings, the following suggestions were made to assist government to reduce the high rate of unemployment among school leavers in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. Some of such recommendations are;
1. The government should mobilize additional effort towards creating job opportunities.
2. They should also mobilize private investors, who declare high profit each year to invest part of the profit.
3. The government should establish farm settlement and agricultural industries.
